Charities That Pick-up
Compiled as a service to Red Phone Members (212)633-1030 Modem
These charities that pick up do so under certain conditions and
circumstances. Most won't pick-up for 1 or 2 items unless they're
especially valuable. They also devide into two groups:
some give your donations directly to neady people. Other places
only accept goods they can sell. Giving isn't as easy as it used to be,
but its still worth while to help someone!
Cancer Case Thrift Shop - 879-9868
Doesn't have their truck, but will rent one to pick-up items.
Council Thrift Shop - 794-4408
Pick-Ups in Manhattan only from 8th-96th Street. Will take a maximum of
4 sealed boxes.
Everybody's Thrift Shop - 355-9263
Regulary scheduled pickups in Manhattan only. They would like you to
have a minimum of 3 packages or bags.
Furnish a Future - 1(718)876-5353
The partnership for the homeless runs this one and picks-up all over the
city.
Goodwill Industries - 1(718)721-2900
Picks-up in Manhattan, Queens and the Bronx. They'll furniture in
saleable condition.
Grand Central Partnership - 818-1220
Picks-up adult clothing only.
Harlem Restoration Project - 684-6992
Pick-up in Manhattan 9-12.
Irvington Institute for Medical Research - 879-4555
Pick-up Manhattan between 8th and 96th Streets.
Materials for the Arts - 255-5924
Not a charity but an organization that provides materials for the
not-for-profit cultural communitity of NYC. About 1500 groups.
St. Vincents de Paul Society - 1(718)292-9090
No minimum requirements.
